Empowering Students Through
Hands-on Experience

In partnership with TWGHs Lee Ching Dea Memorial College since 2020, the Foundation has built a comprehensive framework spanning aviation training, STEM competitions, international experiences, and school-based STEAM curriculum.

Since the 2020–2021 academic year, the Foundation has forged a profound and lasting bond with TWGHs Lee Ching Dea Memorial College — rooted in a shared belief that education should not be confined to traditional academic pathways.

Career Exploration Centre

Career Exploration Centre with flight simulators

Equipped with two professional flight simulators and aircraft models, the Career Exploration Centre provides students with a safe and realistic aviation learning environment. It serves as both an activity venue and an important platform for cultivating diverse abilities.

The Aviation Society regularly organises flight simulation and aircraft model assembly activities. Students experience the complete process from take-off, turning and cruising to landing, learning to make precise judgements and respond immediately in rapidly changing situations.

Through this training, students gradually develop concentration, calm thinking and problem-solving skills, while also enhancing teamwork and communication.

On various event days — including Admission Information Day, Secondary One Interview Day, LCDMC Fun Day and FLY with LCDMC — the Centre is open to the public, allowing primary and secondary students and parents to experience flight simulation first-hand.

Australia Flight Experience Tour

Students at Australia flight experience

Each summer, ten students and one teacher travel to Australia for an immersive flight experience. Under the guidance of professional coaches, students sit in the cockpit to complete take-off, cruising and landing — truly experiencing the thrill of soaring through the skies.

The Australia Flight Experience Tour not only enhances students' professional skills but also helps them build resilience and a spirit of courage in pursuing their dreams.

By participating in international exchanges, students broaden their horizons and cultivate the open-mindedness of 'global citizens'. Their language proficiency, especially in English, has improved significantly through real-world practice.

Aerosim Inter-school Aviation Tournament

AIAT competition

Since 2022, the school has actively participated in the AIAT every year, with more than forty students involved. The competition covers glider design, aviation theory tests and flight simulation challenges, complemented by comprehensive lectures and professional flight training.

Throughout the process, students not only acquire aviation knowledge and engineering design skills but also gain valuable experience in teamwork and on-the-spot adaptability.

By designing gliders with their own hands, students are inspired to develop a strong interest in aviation and engineering — essential foundations for future careers in these fields.

School-based STEAM Curriculum

STEM Fun Day activities

With the Foundation's support, the school has integrated a school-based STEAM curriculum into junior secondary levels since 2021, providing students with comprehensive and systematic science and engineering education.

Through Mr. Chan's donations, the school has installed advanced teaching equipment, organised diverse internal and external innovation activities and competitions, and provided professional training for teachers. Students cultivate an inquiry-based spirit and problem-solving skills through hands-on practice.

The curriculum covers robotics, programming, 3D printing and scientific inquiry, significantly increasing students' interest in science and engineering while inspiring scientific thinking.

Data shows that the number of Secondary 3 students choosing the Science stream has climbed steadily, and graduates applying for university programmes in Engineering and IT have increased significantly — enrolling at HKU, CUHK, CityU and other prestigious institutions.
